When I started talking about making strength training for BJJ videos. One of the most common messages I received concerned BJJ grips and how to make them stronger with weight training. So in this video I share 1 of my all time favorite grip strengthening / overall strengthening exercises.. Which is the farmers carry or farmers walk. The farmers walk is such a simple exercise and effective exercise that can be done with a ton of different of equipment and helps not only develop a strong grip but also an enduring one. During the exercise you'll find that your forearms will burn just like they do during a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu competition or training session. By overworking the grips this way, it's incredibly helpful for Brazilian Jiujitsu. After adding these in to your routine once a week you'll find that you will have a stronger grip. Not only on exercises and weight training. But also in regards to your BJJ. I prefer to do them with a lighter to moderate weight and walk for at least 1 minute or a certain number of meters I've set for myself. From there I will rest and do anywhere from 5-10 sets. You can add this to the end of any weight training routine you currently use for added capacity. If you do these for the first time. Be advised it might be smart to either skip training that day or at least spread the training out several hours.
