http://www.nofearspeaking.com, Overcoming Public Speaking Fears & Leadership TV Interview - Joe Yazbeck, John: Today we're going to talk about communication not a simple and easily understood subject. We're going to be talking to Mr. Joe Yazbeck. Joe, talk to us about what do you do as part of your career and what you do to help people? Joe: My field and what I deal with, John, is life communications, communications that reach people. I'm a public speaking coach, leadership development specialist. I work with people that need to connect to others, people connecting to people. So you look at the word media, for example, you're talking about radio and television and so forth and the word now is social media, and so what I coach for regarding the media are those individuals that need to reach others through those channels. John: So, Joe, who's a typical client for you? Joe: Well, that word typical may not be appropriate John. I don't think there's anybody typical. Men and women of many different fields and professions and...you know, they aspire to be good, and they aspire to be effective, and they aspire to really reach out to the public and make themselves known and create an impact on what they believe in, and from the position that they hold. And it might be a lawyer that needs to shine in the trial. It might be a political candidate that needs to shape and mold their campaign and to become fearless and courageous in front of people and in front of the cameras, in front of reporters. It might be a political candidate that becomes a public servant and then all of a sudden has a whole new purpose to communicate dynamically. John: This is about people. I thought communication was a technical thing, but this is about people. Joe: Well, you hit upon something right there that has been a transition through the last I think 20 years and particularly since the Internet went active in the early 90s. Communications now is not just a digital thing. It's not just a technology word. Communication still has, and in the importance of communication, the interaction between people which is a live thing. It's how one expresses themselves. And in my work and working with communications, I really work with the individual not necessarily to be impressive or to impress, but to be expressive, to express outwardly and to really take an interest in the world around them, so in a lot of ways, it's unleashing an individual. John: There's been a big change in the world in the last century. Now there's a dialogue. It's almost like each person is finding their own voice as an artist.
