Iconic Mackinac Island Michigan in the Summer: Is It Too Crowded???

This week, we take you back to iconic Mackinac Island, Michigan! Mackinac Island is a step back in time, an island where freight is moved by horse and bicycles are the primary mode of transportation. When we visited in May 2023, it was just as the island was opening for the tourist season. On that trip, we took a horse-drawn carriage ride around Mackinac Island and had brunch at the historic Grand Hotel. It was a relaxing, uncrowded, but completely planned day for our first visit to this bucketlist destination. On this visit, we returned to Mackinac Island on a whim with no plans or expectations. We just woke up one morning during our visit to beautiful northern Michigan and said, "Let's go to Mackinac Island today!". But this was July... the height of a short tourist season that sees almost 1 Million visitors visiting Mackinac Island every year. Would it be a mistake to visit Mackinac Island in the summer without a plan? Would it be too crowded? We wondered, but decided to wing it anyway. And we share the day we had with you in this video!
