STORM PHOTOGRAPHY | BIG waves in CRAZY weather | Storm Eunice | Newhaven, UK

With a forecast for one 'of the biggest storms in decades' I packed my bags and headed home to Sussex. One of the local beaches, in Newhaven, has become a bit of a photographers destination in the past few years when the storms roll in. There's a sharp drop-off from the beach, and the south westerly swells come in at an angle across the beach, before crashing into the port wall and ricocheting back. The unique geography of this location makes it a perfect place for dramatic seascape photography in the otherwise fairly sheltered and calm south east coast of England. The weather was hectic, with powerful gusts off wind throwing sea spray and pebbles across the beach. It made for difficult and interesting conditions to shoot in. I was really happy with the shots I came away with. For the majority of the shoot it was in bright afternoon sunshine which created quite a unique atmosphere with the spray and storm waves.
