Just when I was about to receive a promotion at work, I had to make a life-changing decision to leave my job. Three days before flying off to Madinah, Saudi Arabia, I got married, marking the beginning of a rollercoaster of emotions and experiences. Leaving my new wife behind in London and embarking on a solo journey to study at the Islamic University of Madinah was incredibly difficult. I found myself in a new country for the first time, facing the challenges of long-distance marriage while trying to adjust to my new life as a university student. With no family around for support, I had to navigate life on my own—learning Arabic, adapting to a new culture, and finding my way in a city I had never been to before. I also recount my first experiences flying out on my own, landing in Madinah, and the emotions that flooded me as I stepped foot in this blessed city for the very first time. From living alone for the first time in a shared room to immersing myself in a new language and culture, the journey was filled with trials, growth, and unforgettable moments.
