Please subscribe to the SCHS channel. Winding over 100 miles through Wisconsin’s Driftless region, the Baraboo River has nurtured mankind in this area for thousands of years. Indigenous People of the area constructed burial mounds along the banks of the river. The mounds were still there when European settlement started in the 1830s. Dams and mills were built in the 1800s to harness the river's water power. Today the Baraboo River is known for its recreational use and beauty.
