A Clueless jukebox musical is underway, Amy Heckerling confirms

After years of rumors about a leap to the stage, Clueless is finally closer to becoming a musical, according to the film’s creator. Director and writer Amy Heckerling revealed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that a stage adaptation of her 1995 comedy is actually underway, with Heckerling herself writing the book of the show. The director also shared her plans that Clueless would be a jukebox musical, meaning that the show will pull music ostensibly from the ‘90s (“Rollin’ with the Homies” should almost certainly make the cut) rather than craft an original score. So don’t go writing your dream lyrics to “As If” just yet.
