"Anubeast" - Final Year Project Showreel

A showreel of my contributions to my degree course final year project animation "Anubeast" by our 5-members team, Kakkoi Studio. This showreel features snippets from concept sketches to animation and credits design done by me. Protector of the tomb and guide of the deceased, Anubis is deemed to spend his life in an abandoned pyramid. One day, an uninvited guest appears. Who is this intruder and how does Anubis react to this fresh new soul? Synopsis of "Anubeast" Anubis is a God of Death, trapped in a lifeless tomb of the pyramids. He is the protector of the tomb and guidance of the deceased in the afterlife to the underworld. Spending many years in the tomb, he's grown bored and sad of the lifeless tomb. One day, while playing senet with a mummy and reviewing his scroll, he heard an unfamiliar surprising sound. Suddenly, the wall exploded and he was caught in it. In its darkness emerged a light, a person then came out of the entrance and it was the robber who was holding a torch. Anubis, who was caught in surprise, was excited with the appeal of the new soul, and then he disguises himself as one of the statues. However, the robber not realising that he was not alone, noticed the golden ankh that Anubis was holding. He approaches and tried to take the ankh. In retaliation, Anubis revealed himself refusing to give up the ankh. The robber was staggered by the appearance of Anubis, and he started to escape. He ran down the hallway with Anubis still chasing him, and then entered a sarcophagus which transported them into a different dimension. They were transported into an ancient Egyptian mummification ritual wall painting. The robber continues to escape while in the background the process of mummification were visible. The robber manage to escape the dimension with a skeleton arm in his hand which he has used to pedal the sarcophagus at the final phase of the mummification process. He waited for Anubis to exit the dimension then threw the arm towards him. Anubis got hit in the head by the bone, and then he recovers. However, as a dog he was attracted to the bone and started to lick it. He then remembers he was chasing the robber and regain his composure. Throwing the bone aside, he continues his chase after the robber. The robber then ran into a dark room, and ran till he reaches a cliff. Noticing it a little late, he manages to stop and try to balance himself on the edge of the cliff. Suddenly, a finger of Anubis came behind the robber pushed the robber off the cliff. The robber is then seen falling into the abyss. They are both now in the Underworld, seen on a boat, with the robber unconscious, and Anubis rowing. A large gate was in sight, Anubis then approaches the familiar Underworld gate. He walked towards the gate, then stopped and glance at it. To his surprise, the Underworld was closed.
