When we talk about Nokia and Public Safety, we think about 4G/5G and network slicing. During KNect365 Mission Critical Technologies (MCT) 2018, as part of London Tech Week, Jane Rygard Pedersen (Head of Mobile Networks marketing at Nokia) explains why low latency in critical communications and especially in 5G is so important. It’s relatively easy to slice networks but there are definitely some challenges to overcome. Some of these challenges are; managing the service level agreement from end to end as well as network security. When we talk about 5G, low latency is also important. At the exhibition floor, I experience first hand the importance of low latency (max 6 milliseconds) when using a 5G network by using an industrial robot. During my interview with Jane, I also received feedback on the question; if end users are really that much interested in using 5G as everybody thinks.
