The railway's diesel shunting locomotive, D2269, "Perseus," is seen at Exmouth Junction's Coal Concentration Depot on its last day at work in 1992 and then being lifted and loaded on 26th April, 1993. Because of failure, a 45-tonne crane was substituted for the 55-tonner booked and lifting the 23-ton engine caused some fun at both ends of the removal. In foul weather, Mike, the weighbridge clerk, filmed the drawn-out operation from the travelling crane. It was the last time "Perseus" was seen with a "Sprinter." The D.M.U. is the branch train on the Up Main approaching the junction. What was once Exmouth Junction Yard is now a birch forest. Finally, "Perseus" begins its journey to Christow along the approach road which once led to the Loco Shed, the Carriage & Wagon Works and the Concrete Works, but which is now only used by signalmen at the junction box. "Perseus" is undergoing overhaul at Christow. See http://www.teignrail.co.uk/production...
