Causes of severe Stomach Aches - Dr. Bindu Suresh

The major cause of stomach ache is Gastritis. Gastritis causes bloating of the upper abdomen leading to severe cramps. This is caused when there is indigestion, acidity formed due to long hours of not eating properly. The other causes could be pancreatitis which is the inflammation of the pancreas, gallbladder stones which are found in a bag like structure situated in the liver, these stones tend to block bile duct leading to abdominal pain. The other cause for severe abdominal pain are kidney stones, this could be left sided or right sided, again the stone come and block the passages leading to severe pains. Lower abdominal pain in females is usually due to Endometriosis & cystitis which are urinary tract infections.
