Orbital Hypertelorism Causes, Symptoms, Diagnosis, Measurement | Wide Set Eyes

This video is about Hypertelorism or Wide Spaced Eyes. It is defined as increased interpupillary distance. Mild degree of benign hypertelorism is familial. It is usually associated with "widow's peak" which is a descending point in hairline in middle of forehead. Wide eyes are also a feature of frontonasal dysplasia and craniofrontonasal dysplasia. In both these conditions nasal tip has a groove. There is another condition Opitz G syndrome which has X-linked or autosomal dominant inheritance. In this several structures along the midline of the body are affected. Clinical features include laryngeal cleft, hoarseness of voice, stridor, neonatal feeding difficulty or aspiration, hypospadias and wide-spaced eyes. In my video I have discussed the above mentioned conditions along with Coffin-Lowry syndrome, ATRX disorder, and Aarskog-Scott syndrome, all of which have hypertelorism as an essential characteristic.
