British Columbia brings back province-wide mask order – August 24, 2021

In Victoria, Jennifer Whiteside, British Columbia’s minister of education, Anne Kang, the minister of advanced education and skills training, and Dr. Bonnie Henry, the provincial health officer, provide an update on health and safety measures in schools amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Henry also discusses B.C.’s response to the pandemic. She announces the province is reinstating a mandatory mask order for all indoor public settings. The order comes into effect August 25 and applies to residents 12 and older. Faculty and students from Graded 4 to 12 must wear a mask in all common areas. Post-secondary students must provide proof of their vaccination to participate in extracurricular activities and to live in student housing.
