NSCN(K) CONDEMNS 11TH ASSAM RIFLES FOR CEASEFIRE VIOLATIONS & HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES

The NSCN(K) strongly condemned the incident of 21st March, 2025 at Aghunato Town, wherein the 11th Assam Rifles (Zunheboto) intercepted a vehicle and apprehended 3 NSCN members without justification. The members were taken to the Tizu River and physically tortured and threatened to extract information about arms and ammunition. After failing to indict the members, they were taken back to Aghunato Town and halted at Litsu Junction in the intent to stage a fake encounter. This was only averted due to the timely intervention of the NSCN Ceasefire Supervisor Board (CFSB/NSCN), claimed NSCN(K). Even on 22nd March, the 11th Assam Rifles on the pretext of re-checking the vehicle planted a Xeroxed taxation slip in the vehicle using sleight of hand to falsely implicate the members. Hence, NSCN(K) strongly condemned the action of the security forces' which was aimed at disturbing the peaceful atmosphere in the area. The group also pointed out repeated violations of Ceasefire Ground Rules by security forces, questioned how violations of the Ceasefire Ground Rules are always covered up and the erring officers and personnel go unpunished, impunity granted to personnel involved in unwarranted intrusions, privacy breaches, and human rights abuses under the guise of maintaining law and order and the provocative actions by the Assam Rifles ahead of the upcoming review of the NSCN-GoI ceasefire extension, jeopardizing Nagaland's fragile peace. NSCN(K) warned the Assam Rifles not to derail the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in Nagaland by stirring up unwanted situations just to benefit from the precarious situation. .
