Bridge Togging - BLACKFISH LIMIT - Tog / Tautog Fishing from Shore. Wow! I have been fishing for blackfish this week and have seen some good fast tog action. Certainly had keeper class fish in the mix with plenty of shorts. Tautog are a tricky sporty fish in all aspects. The bite, how they bite, when they bite, the snags, the rigs, the bait, the tackle, and the tides. One word. Totally engaging. Oh! One word, "engaging." Past ten years or so the striper been keeping me from the black fish. This year the blackfish been keeping me from the striper. Fishing, glad I be me! I am not sure what the standard limits are for tog? I find limits to be confusing these days. I assumed it may be 2 at 16", but it may be 4 at 16". My limits, like my imagination, are always higher than proposed. Thus I declare 1 at 2.5 hands. Always make your limits higher than the man. You can't go wrong.
