5 Perfect days in Algarve and Seville

Jan 15. After arriving in Lisbon, took a domestic flight to Faro. Pickedup the rental car and drove 20 minutes to AirBnB in the center of Faro within walking distance to the Bone Church. We met our friend and resident of Olhão, had lunch at a local restaurant. Having only few more hours of daylight, we visited the Bone Church and Faro Cathedral. Jan 16. Heading west of Faro, the goal was to cover as much of Algarve in 3 days. Drove 30 minutes to Quarteira, had a light breakfast at a pastry shop, Beira Mar, at Praia do Vidal. Then headed west to Carvoeiro to Algar Seco and dinner at Retiro do Camponés, recommended by a friend. Jan 17. Heading to Portimão, a 60 minutes drive from Faro. We had a busy day covering spectacular beaches in Portimão, Lagos, and Sagres. Dinner at Museu do Perceive, a seafood lover’s paradise. Jan 18. Driving east to Seville, about 2 hrs drive. No border immigration to check in. I had to inform the rental car that I was driving to Seville as well. Staying at a Marriott boutique hotel, very nice but getting there was not easy, luckily our rental car can manage through the narrow street. Do not rent a suburban, you won’t make the turns. Seville is a beautiful and rich in culture, expect to walk a lot as we did. Jan 19. Heading to the town of Setenil, known for its little town built under a rock and Ronda, known for the “El Puente Nuevo.” After returning back to Seville, found this tapas restaurant, very close to Metropol Parasol. Worth a visit if you are in Seville. Jan 20. Heading back to Faro, Portugal, driving under heavy rain. We were just blessed to have five beautiful days of clear blue skies, so no complaining here. Last day exploring old town Faro and ready to flight back home tomorrow.
