There are places that become bridges — not only between shores, but between cultures, landscapes, and generations. In Riola, the Reno river flows beneath the Apennine peaks; in Venice, the lagoon welcomes the world. Here, Alvar Aalto’s architecture creates a dialogue between nature, light, and spirit — from the Church of Santa Maria Assunta in Riola to the Finnish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. Part of the Alvar Aalto Route – 20th Century Architecture and Design, a certified Cultural Route of the Council of Europe.
