We’ve headed to the Kenai Peninsula starting with Homer, Alaska! We'll start at the iconic Homer Spit, the bustling hub of activity filled with shops, eateries, and the legendary Salty Dawg Saloon. We'll set sail on a water taxi to hike to the breathtaking Grewingk Glacier and marvel at the awe-inspiring views. We'll also visit local booze businesses to sample their award-winning beers and mead. One of the top things to do in Homer is not actually in Homer, but across water: Kachemak Bay State Park! This was Alaska's first state park and is home to beautiful mountains, lakes, glaciers, forests, and rivers. The only way to get to it is by boat or plane, so we hopped on a water taxi in Homer and hiked to the Grewingk Glacier Lake! On the way out of town, we stopped at Skilak Lookout for a brief hike before heading inland for more adventures!
