If that’s not possible, always work in the shade, out of direct sunlight, and apply the wax to a cool surface. Pro tip #2: To extend the life of your wax, always wash your car with a pH neutral car soap. Once you’re done rinsing, you can use a quick detailer and spray it on a wet or dry surface. This will boost the gloss and add a bit of protection (in the case of a spray wax). Pro tip #3: Always apply the thinnest possible layer of wax. Applying it too thick complicates its removal and you’re simply wasting product. Pro tip #4: For added longevity, apply a base layer of paint sealant first (using the same methods) followed by a top layer of your favorite carnauba wax. You should get at least 5 to 6 months of durability this way. You get the long lasting protection of a paint sealant combined with the great shine of a carnauba wax.
