Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) is a widely accepted treatment for peritoneal neoplasms, either primary or secondary to digestive or gynecologic malignancy. However, the procedure is associated with a risk of morbidity. Recently, the application of laparoscopy and a minimally invasive approach has been evaluated for a combination of CRS and HIPEC procedures, which has yielded promising results in selected patients. The skills of surgeons play a vital role in the outcome of such complex, highly specialized procedures and also in the post-operative quality of life of patients.
