Basically during a Swap transplant, is something similar to a regular transplant. All the tests and work up what we do for a regular transplant will be done the only issue here is the person who is supposed to give a kidney will give it to the opposite family. One person’s mother will give it to the other person’s son or husband. One person’s wife or husband will give it to the other person’s husband or wife or the son.so basically all the tests will be the same, they will go to the committee for permission. Once the committee gives permission, there will be exchange of kidney’s between the families and once the committee permission is given, they have to undergo transplant the same day. So if we have swapping between two families, then same day, same time we have to do the surgeries.
