Opened in 1952, the Ghost Town and Calico Railway transports riders on a 10-minute round trip ride around the back of the park with views of Pony Express, the back of the Kingdom of the Dinosaurs building, Coast Rider, Xcelerator, Supreme Scream, Timber Mountain Log Ride, and many other rides and attractions. The locomotives were originally from the Denver & Rio Grande Western and Denver & Rio Grande Southern railroads and were purchased by Walter Knott in the early 1950s. The Ghost Town and Calico Railroad features bandits that playfully ransack riders during their journey. On quiet days, Knott's brings out the Galloping Goose on the Calico Railroad tracks.
