Please read the description first, for the best and most complete information. When you measure the Current amplification (Hfe) of this HV transistor with a Hobby meter it is very low, say 2-5. But when this HV transistor is "in its element" (thus on higher voltages) it starts to perform. Showing its good properties. I show, in this video, how you can use the HV transistor ST 13005 (NPN Silicon) as a high voltage transistor, in a series regulator application, that makes (say) 11 or 12 Volt DC out of (say) 120 Volts DC. To let the heat (120 V to 11 Volt) NOT dissipate inside that ST 13005 Transistor, I used a series resistor that drives that ST 13005 on its collector. So now the heat is dissipated into a few lame resistors (togeter 3 K 4 is 3400 Ohm at say 5 Watt) , they will help to get the ST 138005 do its job for say minimal 30 years. Please note: I don’t tell more about the (precise) schematic of the sawtooth wave generator (200 HZ-9 KC).Because it was in an earlier video. The focus now (1 january 2026) is on this: Make a 12 Volt DC or 11 Volt DC power supply for that sawtooth generator, when supplied by 120 Volts DC. Reason: there will be a Voltage Amplifier connected to that sawtooth generator in the future, it will work on 120 Volt DC and will have an AC output (sawtooth wave) in the range of 60-70 Volt. The schematic of a properly working Sawtooth generator (0.5 Hertz – 18 KC) was showed earliuer, in 2025, with a good linearity. Frequency depends on the capacitor value that you use: in this demo I used a 100 NF (=0.1 uf) capacitor to get a good sawtooth wave out. But the focus now & here is not about that: it is all about creating a stabilized voltage of (say) 11 Volt DC out, or 12 Volt DC out, out of that 120 Volt DC source.
