New Tech vs Tried-And-True : A Quick Video

Not hating on Kreg but I hate these Automaxx clamps. This is what a $110 investment looks like…and it isn’t pretty. This is a know issue and for whatever reason…they have not addressed it. I’ve looked at these clamps at Lowes and they still have the same issue. Just a heads up…do not call them out on social media or try to tell them how to improve their products…just trust me. Yes I did a video on the Milescraft face clamps and no they did not ask me to make this video. I’m just getting tired of influencers on social media overlooking stuff like this because some company sends them free product. It’s tiresome. If I’m the bad guy for showing the consumer issues…then so be it. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Intro: Today I wanted to do a quick video showing you why you might want to consider a clamp without auto adjust technology..at least Kreg’s Automaxx version. Now don’t get me wrong…this is a very nice looking clamp. The handle is comfortable to hold and it looks to be well made. I like the added detail on the clamp itself…it kinda gives it an edgy industrial look if you know what I mean and that always helps out when you’re clamping something. Now comparing the looks of that to that of the Milescraft version…well this one looks pretty basic. You have the vise like thumb screw and release lever on the handle which honestly…I really don’t mind. This clamp also looks to be well made but it does lack the eye catching appeal that the Automaxx has IMO. I like the rubber over mold on the handle because the added texture makes it easier to grip. Now the upcoming demos are not the most elaborate but it should give you an idea of the issues I have with Kreg’s Automaxx clamp. Outro: Now you might be telling yourself that I didn’t give the Automaxx clamps a chance when honestly I’ve been fighting with these same issues for over a year. I would not have spent over $100 on 3 of them if I didn’t want to use them in my shop. Kreg’s marketing ploy worked on me but in the end they really aren’t as easy to use as they make them out to be. I still need to adjust the pressure going from various thicknesses if I don’t want to stain my hand…or shoulder…or neck when I try to close the Automaxx clamp. The few seconds it takes to adjust the Milescraft face clamp and have it engage properly the first time is more ideal for me than fighting with kegs Automaxx clamp. That’s just my personal preference…yours could be different. With that being said…I hope you found this video useful and mildly entertaining.
