Prof Ruth Newbury-Ecob is a Consultant Clinical Geneticist, Honorary Professor at the University of Bristol and the Genetics Lead for the Inherited Cardiac Conditions in Bristol. In this episode Libby talks to Prof Newbury-Ecob about what is meant by the term genetic, how our genetic background can influence the development of cardiomyopathies even where no causative gene is found and they consider the growing importance of genetics in informing treatment decisions in light of the development of new therapies for these conditions. Libby is Host and Trustee with Cardiomyopathy UK and has both a sister and father with HCM.
