Your Santa Clara County Firefighters: Treehaven Fire Station

This week we bring you our Treehaven Fire Station spotlight video! This fire station serves the Hecker Pass area west of Gilroy, protecting a region of forested hillsides and rural properties along Highway 152. The station’s district includes the Mount Madonna County Park vicinity and dense woodlands surrounding Hecker Pass. Firefighters assigned here are frequently the first on scene for wildland fires in this high-risk area and respond to vehicle collisions along the winding pass road, in addition to structure fires and other emergencies. Join Firefighter/Engineer-Paramedic Eric Hafemann (now Captain Hafemann!) at Treehaven station for a rural water supply drill, showcasing how firefighters secure water in areas without reliable hydrants. In rural areas where water supplies are scarce, firefighters must be ready to draft water from portable tanks to fight fire. This type of training prepares firefighters to bring their own water when infrastructure is limited. Treehaven Fire Station was formerly part of the South Santa Clara County Fire District and officially became part of Santa Clara County Fire Department in July 2025, following consolidation directed by the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors. Though relatively small, the station plays a critical role in protecting the Hecker Pass corridor, where wildfire risk and rural access challenges require specialized readiness and coordination.
