Richard O'Brien opened the Rocky Horror Show at the Theatre Upstairs at the Royal Court Theatre in 1973. It quickly moved to larger and larger theatres around London where it continued to sell out. Then in 1974 O'Brien and crew took the show to America. First to the famed Roxy Theater in Los Angels and then to Broadway and the silver screen in 1975. However just because the original cast and crew had traveled across the pond the show continued to be a hit with a brand new cast. This is a mostly complete recording of a 1975 performance at the Kings Road Theatre in London. The recording picks up just before the song Sweet Transvestite. Missing are Science Fiction/Double Feature, Dammit Janet and Over At The Frankenstein Place. It is interesting to note that this production is still using the original order of songs... most notably Sweet Transvestite coming before Time Warp even though by 1975 Richard O'Brien had transposed those songs in the show's order. There is also some dialog in this show that was later cut or re-ordered in later versions. For those who are only familiar with the movie this is a valuable insight as to the origins of the show.
