Recently my family and I spent 5 days in the capitol city of Jamaica! Join us in this vlog as we explore some of Kingston's highlights. Below are the food notes and links for things mentioned in the video. If you are intending to visit here, I have a Q&A about Kingston in the last few minutes of the video that may help your planning. My goal is to inspire others to travel, help with itinerary ideas, and provide encouragement that travel is possible, even if you have young children or if you're on a budget. There's always somewhere for tourism! BLUE MOUNTAIN COFFEE TOUR: I booked our tour with Karen of Jamaica Cultural Tours. They also offer walking tours around Kingston, food tours, and more. Our tour cost $120 CAD per adult, and the toddlers were free of charge. https://jaculture.com/ 22 JERK: For lunch, we ate Jerk chicken with rice & peas, fried plantain, and curried goat with rice. I really enjoyed this meal, it was everything I expected it to be! DEVON HOUSE BAKERY: We had the beef patty, strawberry danish, and blueberry turnover. COCO RAW: fresh June Plum drink & coconut water DEVON HOUSE I-SCREAM: I ordered the cherry ice cream for myself, but the vanilla was the best, in my opinion. KAYA PIZZA: We tried their margherita pizza (the kids enjoyed it). DANYA'S COFFEE BARREL: We ordered lattes, one iced, one hot (each cost 650 JMD) BOB MARLEY MUSEUM: The adult admission cost $37 CAD, and kids 3 & under are free! https://www.bobmarleymuseum.com/ CAFE BLUE: I had a hot latte (cost 850 JMD), this was the priciest but the best latte I had on the trip! If you had to choose one place, this is it! I also ordered a plantain tart and Bailey's cheesecake because I was craving sweets. TOYOTA COFFEE HOUSE: Hot latte (cost 450 JMD) JABLUM COFFEE: Hot latte (cost 700 JMD) The cooking school I wish I had time to visit: https://jamaicafoodanddrinkkitchen.com/ In regards to pricing and dollar value, the flights and accommodation were more affordable than some other cities I've visited, however the cost of meals, groceries, and souvenirs was pretty much on par with the cost of living at home in Toronto. Next up... Didn't see many Jamaican Patties in this vlog? I will be sharing my patty verdict in the next video I share!
