In this video we head to Old Warong China to try some of the best Nyonya cuisine in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I try Nyonya Pie Tees and Nyonya Laksa. We take the opportunity to learn about the origins of Baba Nyonya's and what their cuisine consist of. Laksa is a classic Peranakan food that we absolutely LOVE. Peranakan are the descendents of the first settlers coming from South China into the warm climate of the maritime coast of Southeast Asia. They are also called Straits Chinese and became known as Baba-Nyonya after they adopted the the culture of the land, being it Malay, Indonesian or Singaporean.
