The Detroit Public Library Author Series welcomes the authors of "Say Their Names: How Black Lives Came to Matter in America." In "Say Their Names," five seasoned journalists (Michael Cottman, Patrice Gaines, Curtis Bunn, Nick Charles and Keith Harriston) highlight the disparities that have long characterized the dangers of being Black in America. They examine the many moderate attempts to counteract these inequalities, from the modern Civil Rights movement to Ferguson, and how the killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and others pushed compliance with an unjust system to its breaking point. This is a recording from a Zoom program that took place on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. The Detroit Public Library (DPL) is the largest public library system in the state of Michigan. The Main Library and its 21 neighborhood branches make it one of the most valuable and accessible public institutions in the state. Stay up-to-date on information and events by visiting http://www.detroitpubliclibrary.org and following the library on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
