The Normal Tear Film

This video describes the normal tear film and uses video clips and photographs taken with the EyePhoto Clinician during slit lamp examination. The lipid layer, meibomian microsphericals, aqueous layer, and mucin layer are discussed. This video is the first in a series of videos on the tear film and various abnormalities that lead to pathologies. At the end, a short clip of superficial punctate staining (a common presentation of tear film abnormality) is shown as a prelude to future videos. This video was created by Austin Holmes as part of a thesis project for a Master of Public Health degree through a CEPH accredited program.
