In this sermon, Pastor gives a historical account of the origin of Christian Heresy (denominationalism} being the Western Roman Catholic Church. The first breakaway from Catholicism was the Eastern Orthodox Church, their reason for breaking away was on papal authority, which said the Pope is infallible and that every word of the Pope is the Word of God, this first breakaway was in the year 1054 which is historically known as the great schism. Orthodox comes from the word Orthos with mean " straight, unbending, right " so orthodox Christianity mean, the right way of doing church. After this division came the Lutheran protestant reformation, it is from this reformation that latter John Wesley of the Methodist movement and John Calvin of the Anglican church developed their heresies. Methodist Church and the Anglican Church are not Orthodox churches rather they are protestant reformation churches. This breakaway was in 1517. Martin Luther broke away from the catholic church principally fighting the doctrine of penance and corrupt church practices, this is what led to his 95 thesis against the Catholic church, so the only Churches that broke away from the Catholic church is the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Lutheran protestant reformation, however it is interesting to note that both Churches did not reject the apocrypha writings or the deuterocanonicals. No other breakaway happened with the the Eastern Orthodox Church, any other breakaway continued from the Lutheran Protestant Reformation. The order of breakaway's from the Lutheran Reformation is in Order of Anabaptist - ( Heutarians, Mennonites, Amishites ) - the restoration movement ( 1st great awakening ) - the revivalist movement ( second great awakening ) - Apostolic Catholic Church - Prymouth Brethren - Millerite movement - Cheswick movement - Classical Pentecostal movement - Pentecostal movement - C I Scofield movement - the later rain movement - Prophetic Movement( Ghana)
