Procrastination is often framed as a lack of willpower. In this episode, I explain why that idea usually doesn’t help, and what’s actually going on instead. When we’re stressed, tired, overwhelmed, or emotionally overloaded, the brain shifts into survival mode. In that state, trying to force ourselves to “do better” tends to fail. Not because we’re weak, but because self-control works differently under pressure. In this podcast-style video, I explore: Why willpower breaks down when stress is high How understanding how you lose control matters more than pushing through What’s happening in the brain when you procrastinate or act on impulse Why cravings, procrastination, and habits follow similar patterns How small pauses and awareness gradually rebuild self-control I also share a short reflective exercise and a personal example of how willpower shows up for me in everyday life. This episode may be especially relevant if you struggle with emotional eating, compulsive habits, or repeated cycles of motivation followed by burnout. I’m creating a simple worksheet to support this. I’ll link it here when it’s ready.
