When Alison met her boyfriend Mark Cassidy in 1995, she believed he was a working-class joiner from Birkenhead - but the truth was far more sinister. After he suddenly disappeared five years into their relationship, Alison made the shocking discovery that Mark was actually an undercover police officer for the Met’s Special Demonstration Squad - tasked with infiltrating left-wing protest groups, including the one that Alison belonged to.
