Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today said that the State has released ₹120 Cr to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), which is the share of revenue. This is the total amount which has been released during the past years. “The State Government has released all the revenue share to the district council. There is no pending dues”, he said. He informed that during NPP’s tenure, 80 percent salaries of GHADC staffs were cleared. “The pending arrears are from the past, which has not been cleared”, the chief minister added. Clarifying that the State Government does not govern the district council, the chief minister said, “State has no responsibility to pay salaries of GHADC staffs. The responsibility of the State is to share revenue on royalty to the council. The council administers and ensures management of the council from the revenue that is generated from the share of royalty and other taxes collected by them”.
