UNSTABLE OSSICLES FOOT ANKLE MSK MRI RADIOLOGY OS NAVICULARE TRIGONUM & PERONEUM: WHAT TO LOOK FOR UNSTABLE OSSICLES: Ossicles are common in the foot and can be incidental or a cause of pain such as with the painful os peroneum syndrome. What are the some of the things to look for in unstable ossicles. No matter which ossicle it is (Os naviculare, os trigonum or os peroneum) the changes of instability are all the same. Bone marrow oedema is the main sign of instability but look also for: • Adjacent Soft tissue or tendon oedema. • Irregularity of the cortical margins of the ossicle. • Subcortical cysts. • Widening and increased signal of the synchondrosis.
