In the Fall of 1937, a highly reputable pharmaceutical company headquartered in Tennessee would release a liquid form of a popular antibiotic at the time, Sulfanilamide. This new product, would be dubbed "Elixir Sulfanilamide" and upon hitting the market, this new medicine would quickly begin to rack up a startling body count in its wake; and this toxic tonic would prove to be so deadly, that the resulting aftermath would forever shape the American pharmaceutical industry even to this day.
