With the scale development of biogas projects, the efficient treatment of biogas residue has become a major challenge in the industry. Traditional disposal methods, such as direct land application, are limited by seasonal and land constraints, while dehydration and incineration are energy-intensive and environmentally harmful, making them unsustainable. The pyrolysis of biogas residue to produce biochar offers an innovative solution. This technology converts solid biogas residue into compact and stable biochar in a high-temperature anaerobic environment. Its core advantages are: first, significant volume reduction, making storage and transportation easier; second, efficient nutrient recovery, with organic carbon and minerals like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fixed in a stable carbon structure; and third, harmless treatment, where high temperatures completely eliminate pathogens and stabilize volatile ammonium nitrogen, reducing the risk of greenhouse gas emissions. Moreover, functionalized biogas residue biochar can be reused in biogas systems, as an additive to enhance anaerobic digestion efficiency or improve compost quality. This approach transforms biogas residue from an environmental burden into a high-value resource, addressing long-term compliance pressures and completing the biogas value chain, thus promoting the green and low-carbon transformation of the entire industry. #biochar #recyclingequipment #carbondioxideremoval
