In this peaceful nature walk, we explore Gwellup Lake in Perth, Western Australia, but with a twist… we had to reverse our usual route. I remembered a small bridge crossing the wetland, but when we arrived, it was gone. Instead of a bridge, we found drainage pipes and no way to cross. So, with Chiqui’s reluctant approval (she’s not a fan of changing routes!), we walked the trail in the opposite direction. And somehow… everything felt different. Walking the same path in reverse completely transforms the landscape. The light hits differently. The trees feel new. The wetlands seem unfamiliar. Even familiar trails become fresh again. It was a calm afternoon with beautiful golden light, soft ambient music, and that quiet atmosphere that makes these walks so special. We hope the bridge will be rebuilt soon, but sometimes, unexpected changes create the most memorable walks.
