Furthermore, the cigars have been stored in a Boveda acrylic humidor with 65% Boveda packs for a period of three weeks to ensure that they were properly acclimated and ready to be evaluated. 00:48 Cigar Overview Meaning "a thousand flowers" in French, the Mille Fleurs by Partagas is a small 5 1/8 x 42 panatella. It is made in Cuba from only Cuban tobacco with an entubado style. Although it existed since before the Cuban Revolution, it wasn't until 2002 that the Mille Fleurs became a hand-rolled rather than machine-made cigar. 01:32 Look & Feel The Mille Fleurs has a somewhat rustic appearance with a slightly bumpy roll and blemished wrapper. However, it has a firm spring and the nose reveals notes of nutmeg, barnyard, and dried clay. 02:35 Prelight The draw can be a touch of the tight side but massaging the cigar will usually open it up. Its dry draw delivers notes of cinnamon, coffee beans, and musky labdanum. 03:03 Tasting Notes The first third had a few burning issues with a runner that required touching up. The ash is also somewhat flaky. The mouthfeel is somewhat coarse and heavy. It has flavours of brazil nut, nutmeg, and rosewood. There is little change in the second third. The nutmeg persists while the rosewood is more reminiscent of oak. Meanwhile, a note of pepper has started to emerge in the retrohale. The final third's burn misbehaved again and the wrapper started cracking. The flavours are intense with dried fig, pepper, and oak. Overall, the Partagas Mille Fleurs isn't particularly complex and its mouthfeel can be somewhat rough. However, with the right pairing, it's not unpleasant. Nevertheless, its palate stimulation is harmonious and balanced. Otherwise, the lifecycle and transitions can be somewhat linear. 06:53 Burn The Mille Fleurs can get somewhat hot and it's encouraged to smoke it slowly so that it remains cool. The ash backbone is quite flaky and the burn line is pretty flaky throughout the whole experience. 07:30 Overall Experience The Mille Fleurs features a classically Cuban Partagas band and the box is of the cardboard variety that is plastered in decorative stickers. Nevertheless, it's a cigar that's suitable for formal occasions given its Cuban origins and sophisticated appearance. Nevertheless, we'd recommend it for more casual smoking. Expect to pay somewhere between $5 and $7 for a stick. By Cuban standards, this is of decent value. However, you can find superior New World smokes for the price. 09:01 Pairings Consider smoking it after lunch and pairing it alongside or following a bacon avocado salad. Otherwise, you could opt for an accompanying nut mix or even dark chocolate. As for beverages, we'd lean towards beer like IPA or Pilsner. Otherwise, consider hot chocolate to impart additional creaminess onto your palate. Finally, espresso or another variety of coffee will be a great palate cleanser.
