Here’s a flawless example of the aforementioned item. It’s an industry standard for first responders, and is, for lack of better words, an idiot proof Geiger Muller counter, dosimeter, and dose rate meter with audible, visual, and vibrating alarms which can be set to go off at a dose rate of your choice. If you want to use it as a standard gamma only Geiger counter, hold the “RATE” button for a couple of seconds until you see a 1 on the screen and you’ll get a classic Geiger counter clicking noise for every photon that hits it. It has a unique feature which makes it more attractive than the Ludlum Model 25 to some people; that is displaying a background dose all the way down from 0.1uR/hour. It usually reads anywhere from about 10-15uR/hour depending on your background radiation levels. These units are sturdily built and are designed to be abused. This is a RADIAC series meter, meaning that they’re manufactured by many companies to an exacting standard, but this one is the highly desirable original Canberra brand. The vibrating alert is quite stark; meant to be felt by firefighters through their turnout gear, and is stronger than what you’d feel from a cell phone. The alert is quite loud, and the alarm sounds just like the alert only it beeps faster. I would highly recommend reading the manual before purchasing; I think you’ll find that it’s an elegant design. I’ve spent the $25 to get you four rechargeable NiMH AAA batteries and mobile charger for your convenience. I want my customers to be thrilled with their purchase and I try to go the extra mile, so I hope you appreciate it! The charger fits all four batteries at once. You can purchase additional sets of four or eight batteries on eBay for a reasonable price. The charger can also do AA batteries. This unit is designed for the lower voltage (1.2v/battery) of the NiMH cells; otherwise I’d have spent the extra two bucks for Lithium Ion. The unit does alert you when you have 10 hours left on your batteries. Please see the manual for further details. Please feel free to contact me on eBay or Reddit for further details. If you’re coming here from Reddit, I prefer PayPal or Zelle. PayPal offers an additional degree of protection for the buyer, and eBay offers fantastic buyer protection, although I’m pretty easy to deal with regardless. I am a 100% rated eBay seller with over 400 sales in the 25 years I’ve been using the platform. I was lucky enough to have access to a health physics/calibration lab through an HP friend of mine; this unit checks within 20% of the dose on an NIST traceable Cesium 137 source at both low and high dose rates, although it does not possess the ability to be calibrated like the Ludlum Model 25. I hope this demonstration is educational; thanks for looking! Please ask if you’d like information on check sources for the device.
