#fathimalatheefdeath #iitchennai #cbireport The CBI team assigned to probe into the death of Madras IIT student Fatima Latif on Friday said that her death was a suicide. They also said that the case does not involve any external motivation. The CBI has filed a petition in the Chennai Metropolitan Court seeking permission to close the probe as no suspicion has been found. Fatima Latheef's father approached the same court against this. The grief of having to leave home may have led to his suicide. The summary of the report submitted to the court by the investigation team led by DYSP Santosh Kumar is that the family's allegation of suspicion is baseless. Fathima's father, Abdul Latheef, has filed a petition in the CBI court seeking a copy of the report, asking that the probe not be terminated and that their side be heard. The case is set to be heard on January 3. On November 9, 2019, Fathima Latheef, a first year student of IIT Humanities Integrated MA from Kilikollur, Kollam, was found hanging from a fan in a hostel room. The initial conclusion of the police was that Fatima, who was successful in her studies, committed suicide due to low marks in the internal examination. Fatima's suicide message was found on her mobile phone, raising suspicions that there was a mystery behind the incident. The case was registered at the Kotturpuram police station in Chennai. The case was later referred to the CBI on the instructions of the Central Government.
