A decent asphalt road starts from the outskirts of the Ingush village of Dolakovo in the direction of the Ossetian village of Zilgi, but this is a highway to nowhere. Back in 1992, during the Ossetian-Ingush conflict, a deep ditch was dug on the administrative border between these republics. This obstacle blocked the road and disconnected two villages, some of whose inhabitants had become relatives long before the conflict. Twenty six years later, to drive around this ditch, local residents still have to take a country road that becomes impassable after rains. People demand that the authorities of North Ossetia and Ingushetia restore the road between Dolakovo and Zilgi, thus "erasing traces of conflict of 1992".
