Personally, for me, Visočica is among the 3 most beautiful mountains in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and hiking to the Vito summit is an unforgettable experience. Ridge hike not for the faint of heart starts at the very summit and is an experience that every hiker could wish for. Visočica Mountain is a stunning and rugged mountain range in Bosnia and Herzegovina, located near the more well-known Bjelašnica Mountain. It forms part of the Dinaric Alps and is known for its dramatic limestone peaks, deep valleys, and remote, untouched nature. Visočica serves as a natural divide between Bosnia and Herzegovina, with its southern slopes descending towards Herzegovina’s karst landscapes. Vito is one of the most prominent peaks of Visočica, standing at 1,960 meters (6,430 feet) above sea level. It offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, including Bjelašnica, Prenj, and Treskavica. The summit is characterized by rocky terrain and a sharp contrast between the lush green lower slopes and the rugged limestone formations at the top. The mountain ridge of Visočica is a true hiker’s paradise, offering a mix of alpine meadows, rocky ridges, and deep valleys. It stretches across several peaks, with dramatic drops on either side, making it a thrilling but manageable traverse.
