One Year Timelapse of the Sky from my All Sky Camera

Live Stream:    • Night Sky Live  in 4K   Behold, my One Year Timelapse! From November 2nd 2023, I began recording the sky on my own custom made All Sky Camera. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do with it when I first started, but I quickly realized its potential. I decided I was going to attempt making a timelapse. A longer one than I had ever attempted before, by an absolute longshot. One full year, literally capturing every second of it. I knew it would be impossible to show off every second, with every second of video being one frame in a 60 fps timelapse, that would only be 1 minute per second of timelapse. One minute of timelapse being an hour of real time… is a lot of hours. At that rate, the timelapse would be over 6 days long. Obviously that is not very presentable. This timelapse is essentially the raw video, compressed to about 6 minutes and 40 seconds of real time per frame. I have no real reason for choosing this speed, other than attempting to balance how long each day was displayed on screen and the total length of the video. I have another version where the sky is stabilized on the North Celestial Pole, showing the Earth's rotation while keeping the stars relatively in one place. It isn't perfect, as there are distortions caused by the acrylic dome and fisheye lens. I am also producing another version, locking the stars in the same position in the sky as the Earth orbits the Sun. A frame is taken from each day, but the time of day is adjusted to account for one true full rotation of Earth, which is actually slightly less than 24 hours exactly. In that view, you can watch the Earth orbit the Sun, with the planets moving through their orbits as well. Obviously half the timelapse is lit up by the Sun, but it is an incredibly unique perspective. One that I have only seen in simulations, and never before in a real video.
