There are many theories about Gog and Magog. Who they are, what modern countries they represent, when their attack on Israel will occur and how it ties into the sequence of end times. Some theorize that the battles outlined in Ezekiel and in Revelation are two separate events. Let's dig into scripture to see what God's word reveals. First, there will be many nations joining Gog and Magog in their attack on Israel. We read in Revelation 20:8 that they "will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—and to gather them for battle. Ezekiel 38:3-6 reveals the nations who will join Gad and Magog. Gomer and Beth Togarmah are from the far north. Cush and Put are from the south and southwest. Persia envelopes all of these areas and stretches further east. For Israel, this is the 4 corners of the earth coming to attack their small nation just as described in Revelation. Next, Satan is present in both passages. In Revelation 20:7-8, we see that Satan goes out "to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth." And we read in Ezekiel 38:10, “On that day thoughts will come into your mind and you will devise an evil scheme." Satan is present in both narratives. He is mentioned by name in Revelation while Ezekiel shares his deceptive practice of coercing people to devise evil schemes. As we continue in these scriptural accounts, God defends Israel from heaven as described in Revelation and Ezekiel. We read in Revelation 20:9-10, "They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God’s people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur." And we read in Ezekiel 38:22, "I will execute judgment on him with plague and bloodshed; I will pour down torrents of rain, hailstones and burning sulfur on him and on his troops and on the many nations with him." We see in both passages that God pours destruction down from heaven upon Gog, Magog and the nations who joined them. And God reveals in Revelation that the mastermind, Satan, is thrown into the lake of fire for eternity. In the next sequence of events, the people of Israel use the weapons for fuel and buries the dead of their enemies. Ezekiel 39:9-13 states that Israel will use the weapons as fuel for 7 years and bury the dead for 7 months. Revelation 20:11-13 follows this period with the resurrection of the dead to be judged. Then, Revelation 22:1-4 reveals the new heaven and new earth with God establishing His Kingdom on earth. And in verse 6, Jesus declares, "It is done!" God's Word does not reveal the time-span that occurs between the Gog and Magog attack, the second resurrection, judgment of the dead and the coming of the new heaven and new earth. His Word only reveals the order of events. The next event that reveals unity between the Ezekiel and Revelation passages is God being proved as Holy to the nations who will finally see that He is the God of Israel. Then God pours out His Spirit upon all the people. God shares with us in Ezekiel 39:21-22, [21] “I will display my glory among the nations, and all the nations will see the punishment I inflict and the hand I lay on them. [22] From that day forward the people of Israel will know that I am the Lord their God. And we continue in verse 29, "I will no longer hide my face from them, for I will pour out my Spirit on the people of Israel, declares the Sovereign Lord.” We read in Revelation 21:3 & 6, [3] And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ...[6]...To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. [7] Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children." Finally, Revelation reveals when this attack from Gog and Magog takes place. We read in Revelation 20:2 & 7-8, "[2] He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years…[7] When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison [8] and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—and to gather them for battle." This final end-time event occurs after Satan is released from his 1,000 year restraint so he can go out to deceive the nations in order to attempt to destroy Israel one last time. When the passages of Ezekiel and Revelation are put together, God's plan is fully revealed. He will save Israel and destroy Satan. God will pour out His Spirit on all people and establish His Kingdom on earth with the names of the 12 tribes of Israel victoriously written on the gates of the New Jerusalem. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Visit us at www.facebook.com/dailygodgems and www.dailygodgems.com
