Hey, hey, hey!!! "Wow, you're so confident" used to be a phrase that bothered me a lot whenever people said it to me. I felt like people were also surprised by the way I carried myself because I was fat. I mean, how often were they going up to slimmer women and complimenting them on being confident because they walked down the street in a crop top. Once I actually sat down and thought about it, I decided to stop being so sensitive about it. We look down on others that have lower self-esteem and aren't self confident as if society doesn't purposely place these feelings within us. I mean, think about it. I absolutely loveeeeee makeup but all beauty ads are geared towards "fixing" or "correcting" something you may not have even considered a problem until they told you it was. I'm always surprised when people who you think would NEVER have a self-esteem issue are actually plagued with feelings of self-doubt and inadequacy. It just made me realize that we all are on a journey of self-love no matter what we think about the person next to us. This is why it's important for us to boost each other up! If you think someone is brilliant, tell them. If you think someone's eyebrows are on fleek, let them know. You never know what someone is going through so that little compliment may be the boost they needed to hear that day. So, I no longer balk at someone complimenting me on my confidence. Now, I'm just grateful that I can inspire someone to enjoy their life no matter what. Maybe, on my shit days, someone will do the same for me.
