Most common complications immediate post-operative is a bit of bleeding from that area which can be controlled by applying a cotton pack, medicated or non-medicated and leaving it there for a little while 24 to 48 hours and waiting for the blood clot to form and remove the cotton, the bleeding that does not stop with these measures can be dealt by taking the patient to the operation theater again and examining the area and finding out where exactly the bleed is coming from and then controlling the bleed from there and probably it might require another cotton pack for a day or two . The other lesser common complications can be adhesions and cynicaea formation because the side wall or the turbinate injured surface will get attached to the medial wall. This will actually cause continuous obstruction again inspire of going through the surgery and this has to be dealt with later. The turbinoplasty if it is done on the larger side, the nose becomes a little more open that the air movement starts causing a little dryness in the inside of the nasal cavities, which is known as rhinitis sicca. In extreme cases it can be atrophic rhinitis. The dryness will lead to a bit of problems that is identified and has to be dealt with regular medications and the cleaning of the nostrils happening regularly for a long time till the dryness reduces and the person becomes normal.
