Toyota WOVEN CITY Launch – Most Futuristic City in the World / CES 2025 / Toyota City Japan At CES 2025, Toyota announced the completion of Phase One construction for Woven City, its test course for future mobility. Located in Susono City, Japan, on the former site of the Higashi-Fuji Plant, Phase One construction finished in October Twenty Twenty-Four, with an official launch planned for fall Twenty Twenty-Five or shortly after. Woven City is designed as a hub for innovation, where inventors, including Toyota and its partners, can develop and test new mobility solutions. The city combines Toyota’s manufacturing expertise with Woven by Toyota’s (WbyT) software capabilities to tackle societal challenges and create value. Partnerships with companies like ENEOS, NTT, and Rinnai are already in place, and an accelerator program for startups and entrepreneurs will launch in summer 2025. Phase One will accommodate around three hundred sixty residents, starting with one hundred Toyota and WbyT staff and their families. The population will eventually grow to two thousand as future phases roll out. Residents, called “Weavers,” will contribute to co-creation activities aimed at expanding mobility beyond transportation to include energy, goods, and information. General public participation in these activities is planned for fiscal year 2026. Woven City earned Japan’s first LEED for Communities Platinum certification for its sustainable and human-centric design. Insights from Phase One will guide the development of Phase Two, which is already underway. Toyota and WbyT aim to redefine mobility through Woven City, advancing technologies for land, sea, air, and even space.
