Ritual is an important but often overlooked element of spiritual care in health care. In this webinar, the importance of ritual in spiritual care was highlighted by focusing on a recent study of ritual and recommendations for competency in facilitation of rituals. The research discussed involves a study by Belgian chaplain Eva Buelens and colleagues, reporting the results of interviews with twelve family members about their experience of the end-of-life rituals conducted for their family member by hospital chaplains. This research was complemented by a description of five competencies for the facilitation of rituals from the chapter on rituals by Rochelle Robins and Danielle Tumminio Hansen in Cadge and Rambo (2022). Areas for future research about rituals in spiritual care were also considered. (Please note, this video was edited with the removal of a video due to copyright.)
